Bathers’ Pavilion Cafe, Mosman

The Bather’s Pavilion is separated into a restaurant and cafe, owned and operated by Serge Dansereau. There is also a kiosk to cater to those passing on by looking for a quick bite. (The kiosk is also very good). You can’t book at the cafe. Simply turn up and grab a seat.

The cafe does a great breakfast and an even better lunch. I would know, I am permanently stationed there for breakfast. The best pancakes in the world are being served right here. Fluffy and thick. Baked chorizo eggs and eggs benedict are bang on the money too. The venue also promises stunning views of Balmoral Beach. So gorgeous, you’ll be swept away and misplace yourself at a beach holiday resort. Amen.

The wood oven scallop oven scallops & prawns with octopus ceviche ($26) was better than expected. Reminding us that it is sometimes it is the simple things in life can still be just as good. If not better. If you’re a fan of spaghetti vongole then the bucatini pasta with sea urchin, venus clams, tomato, garlic and parsley ($34) is the one for you. I’d liken it to a spaghetti vongole on steroids. The sea urchin plays a powerful role and turbo charges the seafood element into overdrive. Even if you’re a hater of sea urchin, I guarantee this dish will make you bend. The maniche rigate (pasta) with the pork, veal and tomato bolognaise ($32) was just as sensational and likely to be the best bolognaise you will ever try. Sorry Nonna – truth hurts. It is comfort food to the max. Rich, intense and meaty speckled with dots of delicious herbs. Bellissimo!

Great views and great food is to be had. Go on and check it out.
